I am not the person with a heart problem but my 13 year old son is. He will have his aortic valve replaced by the Ross Procedure this week. We were given the choice of this procedure or just replacing his aortic valve with a prosthetic valve. We agonized over what to do for a month. In the end we choose the Ross because he would not have to be on blood thinners and his life could be pretty much the same after he recovers from the surgery. We are very scared and this site has been very helpful for us to prepare for my son's surgery.
