About Me

My internist first noted a murmur several years ago and sent me to a cardiologist. I've been monitored every few months by echocardiogram, until April 2015, when it had proceeded to need more intensive scrutiny. So after a TEE, I started down the road (angiogram - fortunately clear arteries) and CT scan where I am scheduled for surgery on October 5 2015 at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. My surgeon believes there is a 95% chance he'll be able to repair my mitral valve, and if not then we'll go with a mechanical. The thinking on that is that I am otherwise in good health, 63 years old, and this will minimize the chance of another surgery.
