I’m one week past robotic MV repair surgery at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. It was definitely more of a struggle than I anticipated, with stomach problems being the biggest challenge. I’ve gotten off the massive doses of Advil, which along with a few other meds, were potentially causing severe GI discomfort. I’m trying to walk over a mile each of the last couple days. I’ve always had a really low HR, so it’s been odd to see a resting heart rate of 80-90… by it sounds like that’s normal. I’m on 25MG of Metoprolol per day. Good luck to all who are on this journey! ❤️

J Alexander Lassally Does massive doses of Advil mean you had big pain? HR takes a long long long time to normalize. One week is literally nothing - so don't gauge it in weeks - think months !

Fidel Martínez Ruiz I had high HR for 3 or 4 months after surg, and was taking 25 MG of Bisoprolol, I suppose is equivalent to Metropolol. The HR was going down little by little and 1 year after, my HR became too low, so cardiologist lowered dose to 12,5 MG, which is my current dose, having 50- 60 bpm at rest. He recommended me make exercise 3 or 4 days a week and reach between 105 and 110 bpm for a while (10 to 30 minutes). Wish you the best !!

John Cook A high resting heart rate is normal for a few months after surgery. It was disconcerting when my resting heart rate went from about 48bpm to about 80bpm and that was on 100mg of Carvedilol a day. I’m now on 1/4th of that dose.
Ibuprofen can cause stomach irritation. So can naproxen, if they switch you. I used maximum doses of Tylenol for my pain management. Then I was on a maintenance dose of Naproxen for 6 months to help keep inflammation down.
