J Alexander Lassally Metoprolol is one of the best for post cardiac surgery so worth trying to soldier through if possible. I have used Carvedilol also before and after my surgery - it is a good option to ask about.

Marcus Krauss I'm on Carvedilol and Amlodipene for BP after my Ross Procedure. No issues with side effects for me on these. Maybe one or both of these could be an option to discuss with your Dr.

Rita Savelis Yes. It made me slow and depressed. Metropolol slows your heart rate and can slow other things down. Many people do fine on it but if you have side effects tell your doctor and your dose can maybe be adjusted or you can be put on another betablocker or different med. My depression lifted when I stopped metropolol.
