What's the difference between Bentall procedure and Ross procedure? I just checked mychart and I'm scheduled for Bentall procedure instead of Ross procedure.

Bentall procedure replaces aortic root (to deal with aneurysm) and can include replacement of aortic valve or not. You should probably have a discussion with your surgeon.

Big difference between the 2 procedures! As Rita said, a Bentall may involve replacing the aortic valve with either a tissue valve or a mechanical valve. A Ross Procedure replaces your aortic valve with your own pulmonary valve, and a donor valve is placed into your pulmonary valve position.

Just called the cardiac office about this. They said it's the way system is set up. On their end, they're seeing "Ross/Bentall" pending upon pre op assessment to see if I'm a good candidate for it or not with Ross being my first option and Bentall as a backup.

The date of the big day has been set, and I'll have the Ross procedure on Oct 18th. I'll be doing the pre-op assessment on Oct 11th. Wish me luck!
