Steven A Husted a pig valve is made from the skin of a pigs heart and a cow valve is made from the skin of a cows heart and i think a mechanical valve is made from plastic and metal you can do some research on the different types here on the internet the mechanical one you have to take blood thinners the rest of your life and have a greater chance of bleeding but a tissue valve you have less of a chance of bleeding but they say they dont last as long as mechanical in most cases it depends on what you are more comfortable with they all work well i chose the cow valve and i am very happy with it i am over two years out and i am in cardio rehab phase 3 and i really enjoy it hope this helps check out my other posts
