I wanted to benefit the collective wisdom of the community. I have a bicuspid aortic valve with moderate stenosis and mild regurgitation. I am currently being monitored by a local cardiologist. At what point do you think I should start working with a cardiologist at the heart valve center that will ultimately do the surgery?

Susan Lynn I agree with Rita. Your current cardiologist should be able to tell you when surgical consultations are in order based on any progression in your test results. Your condition might not get any worse and since you don't have symptoms, it's possible surgery won't be in your future. In the meantime, hang out here with us. Robert Miller I am not sure where you live and what insurance you have but your cardiologist might have to refer you to a surgeon first. I am not familiar with bicuspid aortic valve issue but is there a reason you think you should consider surgery at this point? Your cardiologist will most likely recommend a surgeon within the same hospital. I would do my own research to find the best possible surgeon that is covered by your insurance.
