I’m 78 and 8 weeks out from mitra valve surgery and in spite of feeling ok, with no other health issues, I experience dizziness and fatigue immediately when on my feet. Is this something I have to tolerate until I’m further down the line? I’m on quite a bit of medication but I doubt it’s the cause My chop chop Capricorn personality doesn’t help so I guess I just have to chill and go a day at a time.

John Cook Mine was really bad for a while after my Ross. I had to sit and march my feet to get my body ready for standing.
While it is a lot better now than it used to be, I still get it a lot. I just stand and take a second to adjust before taking a step.

there is also an Orthostatic Hypotension test you can do to see if that is a problem. I just did it because I recently was having random low blood pressure issues.

Susan Lynn Welcome, Christopher! It'll take a bit of time for your heart to get used to the improved pumping, but you'll notice the difference. More oxygenated blood going in the right direction will make many of those symptoms disappear. Go to cardiac rehab if you can. It will help build up your confidence and stamina after surgery.
