Hi all! Does anyone know if any surgeons perform TAVR for low risk patients with aortic regurgitation?

Hi Carolyn, we are searching now with our son who has BAV with regurgitation. We are not finding any who say that procedure is recommended for young and low risk. I think the more traditional open heart procedures are considered more surgically sound than what can be done via TAVR.

Hi Lyle, Thank you. My research has led to that same conclusion. I guess I just needed to get confirmation from others going through this who are researching every option. Hope all goes well with your son.

If TAVR is not recommended for your son, I hope that minimally invasive surgical options are available to him. I have a BAV with regurgitation and the plan is for hemi-sternotomy, which should set me up nicely for TAVR in the future.
