About Me

On the morning of July 9 after my morning swim (50 laps), I went to the hospital for my scheduled echocardiogram prescribed by my primary care physician due to a heart murmur. I wasn't worried because I had previous echos (albeit some years ago) and felt I was in great shape. I exercise 7 days a week, eat well, and was on summer break from teaching so no stress. Needless to say, it has been a nerve-wracking ride. I was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis and to make matters worse the results of a later TEE confirmed vegetation on the valve. I am scheduled for surgery on October 1 at Cedars Sinai. I have a great surgeon and am expecting a positive outcome. Thank-you for giving me the opportunity to share my story.
