About Me (In My Own Words)
Ok. So, long story short. I went into Congestive Heart Failure in October 2014. After a TEE was done I was told I had HOCM. Because my primary physician and my cardio guy started taking surgery more seriously, I felt it was best to see a specialist for HOCM. WELL, come to fine out I did not have HOCM but had a birth defect, sub-aortic membrane! GREAT, another diagnosis! Dr. Berenbom at KU Med diagnosed me correctly and before I knew it was in for open heart surgery. April 10, 2015. So, now I do not need the pacemaker/icd that was placed in my chest in August of 2013. So now April 5th I will go back to KU Med and have the doc take out the pacemaker/icd and the leads! He has done it thousands of time and I have every confidence that he will successfully take everything out without much issue...at least I hope so! To say the last year has been a roller coaster ride is not doing it justice. It is so hard to explain to everyone who has not been through an open heart surgery how much it affects your life and how you see things. Been a while since I updated and didn't think I would need to ....but guess I am part of the club now!
