Have known since a child that I had a murmur, my mom heard it when I was brushing her hair. Diagnosed in my 20's with Mitral Valve Prolapse. Have had no symptoms except PVCs. Followed by cardiologist for years. This summer saw changes--enlargement. Now repair scheduled for Nov 15. Very very anxious---I am a semi-retired RN---think that makes it worse and am a half empty glass kind of person anyway. Keep thinking I might back out and just take my chances. Can't see myself leaving my family and being rolled to the OR. I have a wonderful husband, 4 children and 5 grandchildren----and 2 dogs and planning on getting a puppy. Have a lot of living I still want to do---I am 69.
