About Me (In My Own Words)
In February of 2021 I was Diagnosed withmoderate to severe mitral regurgitation. I am retired and very active, bicycling, running, kayaking, hiking to name a few. For th9is reason I wanted a quick recovery so I could enjoy the upcoming summer. After some research I realized robotic surgery was available and the best option for a speedy recovery. I chose Dr. Murphy at Emory based on his experience, over 2000 valve procedures in 20 years. 2 days post surgery an echo showed mild Mitral regurgitation. A year and half post surgery a TEE indicated severe regurgitation. I am scheduled for resurgery at Emory in April but this week I am consulting with Dr. Gertisch in Indianapolis. After seeing your interview with him on YouTube I am looking forward to meeting him to get his insight on the best path forward. I was totally comfortable and looking forward to surgery the first time wanting to put it behind me and looked forward to an active retirement. But I must say this I am somewhat apprehensive about the long term outcome.
Are you familiar with Dr. Murphy in Atlanta?
