About Me

I have had a prolapse mitral valve fron childhood. Always kept a close watch on it for any changes. All was good until 2013. In September of that year I had a heart attack. I had two stents placed and was recovering in the ICU. On day two my mitral valve started leaking badly. I was in heart failure. The Dr doctor placed an impela pump to keep me alive while I was air lifted to the nearest hospital that could fix my valve. The surgeons at that hospital said I was stable with the impellar and they wanted to wait to see if the rest my heart was getting would be all I needed. It worked and after 4 days I went to the OR HAD A TEE and the impella removed , my valve was working great again. In January of 2016 I had a eco and found that I has mild to sever regurtation of the valve. I was feeling great, very active and so we decided to watch and wait. Now it is more sever and my pulmonary pressures are going up and my energy getting lower and lower. So I am told time to get it fixed. I have a tentative surgery date, but I still have to have a heart cath. I am hoping for the test to show no need for a bypass and a repair done with a mimimial approach. Time will tell.
