About Me (In My Own Words)
I had open heart surgery on 04/08/2019.
Background: I am a 58-year-old woman with no previous heart issues. In going to my yearly physical in November 2018 it was determined I needed additional testing for a heart murmur discovered in 2016. At that time, It was indicated that I would need further testing to get a “baseline” for future reference. Upon further testing in February of 2019 it was revealed I had moderate to severe MVP, an aortic valve in need of repair or replacement and an Aortic aneurysm measuring at 5.1. My cardiologist, Dr Sallach in Rochester Hills, Mi referred me to U of M for further consultation for surgery. During this period I was told not do anything physical due to the Aneurysm, etc.
