I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve. I just had the open heart surgery to replace it since I had severe stenosis. I had my post surgery appointment with my surgeon today and I'm cleared to drive. I'm healing great, feel great, walking 2 miles/day, going to step it up and try to get to 5 miles. I do still have pain, but totally bearable. I can not wait until I'm fully healed. I do have to say my Surgeon, Dr. Craig Smith, and his entire staff and the staff at NY Presbyterian/Columbia was fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better experience the whole hospital experience.
