About Me (In My Own Words)
Over 10 years ago I was diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope. Part of the monitoring included a yearly echo. When the aortic valve reached 1.50 my cardiologist said it’s time to locate a cardio thoracic surgeon. We found him at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. We flew from Florida to the clinic every 6 months where Dr Griffin and Soltesz would monitor my condition. When the valve reached 1.15, it was time to think of when to have the surgery. Dr Soltesz was going to do a minimally invasive going through the right side of the chest. The day before surgery, he said I would have to have open heart because the valve size would not fit through the right side of the chest. What would follow is pain I never imagined nor have I forgotten. Is it’s a little over 5 months. My incision site still hurts a little. But I can walk, and take the stairs without hugging and becoming out of breath.
