About Me

I was diagnosed with bicuspid valve aortic stenosis at age 2. I was followed by a pediatric cardiologist until I was 45. At 46, I went to an adult cardio and after an echocardiogram showed time was up for the valve and I had an an aneurism measuring 5 as well. It was so hard to comprehend because I had no symptoms and felt fine. Surgery was 11/15/17 my dr suggested the mechanical valve due to my age. so I'm almost 6 months recovered. I'm getting used to the ticking. Thank god I found a sound machine ! Recovery has gone well and the hardest part is wanting to do things you can't do and letting others help. Im back to walking 2-3 miles a day and regular activities. I went back to work after 11 weeks (I'm a special education teaching assistant ) sleeping is still a little awkward but I hear it will get better. Some times I forget I had the surgery until I see the scar ! I'm glad I found Adams book, it really helped during recovery! It is a must have ! Thank you
