About Me (In My Own Words)
18 months ago a slight murmur was detected during a check-up. Upon follow-up with a cardiologist here in the US, it was determined my aortic valve is a bicuspid valve and already had mild to moderate regurgitation back through it.
Over the next 16 months, my checkups showed no change. A month ago, the dysfunction of the aortic valve was determined to have progressed to severe and the road to valve replacement surgery has begun. In addition to replacing the valve, a aneurysm on the aorta will be repaired.
I'm so grateful for the timing of all this. We are usually in Africa, but have been in the US for a few months. And now those few months have all of sudden gotten longer as I will have surgery in August.
