About Me (In My Own Words)
I had an aortic valve replacement with a bovine valve July 25, 2016. I had been short of breath for quite a while. A TTE test showed that I had valve regurgitation and I had only 2 of the 3 leaflets functioning on my aortic valve. I had the surgery and I was sitting up in the chair the next day and started short walks in the (they were short mostly due to the IVs and tubes) hall the next day. I was released from Cleveland Clinic on the 6th day. The hospital staff was very professional and very encouraging and fun. I had very little pain from the surgery. From the day I left the hospital I've gone somewhere out of my house every day. 14 days out I met friends for dinner in a restaurant and it's gotten even better from there. I started cardio rehab 4 weeks ago (7 weeks after surgery) and I'm doing 45 minutes on the treadmill 3 times a week. I haven't felt this good in years!
