About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve about 20 years ago. I was going to give blood, which I did regularly, when the nurse said she heard something strange and wanted me to see a cardiologist. After going to the cardiologist and having tests I found out about the valve. I also found out from family that my father had the same thing, so it was hereditary.
We monitored the stenosis of the valve through the years. In 2019, the ascending aorta started to show an aneurysm above the valve. Fast forward to 2021. My cardiologist, Dr Robert Panebianco advised that it was time for surgery. The aneurysm drove the descision. So on 4/6/2021 I had the surgery.
