About Me (In My Own Words)
I've known about my bicuspid aortic valve since I was born. I grew active playing sports, particularly hockey and football. Just before junior year of high school my annual checkup showed aortic value regurgitation and an enlarged left ventricle for the first time. We took steps to limit weightlifting while remaining otherwise active. Everything remained static for the next 10 years. Over the last 5 years I remain asymptomatic (planing on running my first half marathon 4 days before surgery), but my heart continues to struggle to adapt with an aneurism forming in the ascending aorta, regurgitation getting worse and left ventricle growing. In December 2023 I was informed by my cardiologist that it was time to intervene. After talking with several surgeons, I decided, after watching some videos of him on heartvalvesurgery.com, to have Eric Roselli perform the surgery and I had my procedure on September 21 2023
