Diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse about 15 years ago and told then I would probably need surgery when I was 64. I laughed it off because it was so far down the road. Last March I was helping my daughter move and was huffing and puffing just carrying a few boxes. I just thought I was really out of shape but when I started to get other symptoms I went to the cardiologist. After an echocardiogram, TEE and cardiac catherization, it was confirmed I had Severe Mitral Valve Regurgitation and would need surgery.
