About Me (In My Own Words)
Hey everyone. My valve story isn't really mine, it's Mama's!
She was diagnosed with aortic stenosis and mitral regurge a few years back. I remember her sitting on the couch reading Quran when I approached and hugged her. I heard her chest humming like the most unlikable symphony ever. I am a GP myself so I booked at a cardiologist who gave us the diagnosis.
She was managed with medications and was the most asymptomatic patient all this time, until last July when she started having difficulty breathing while asleep, and on follow up we were told her conditions were now grade 3 and surgery is inevitable.
Being from a country like Jordan didn't make this any easy even for a doctor like myself. We have no communities to discuss any issues, and the doctors just assume that we know it all so they don't tell you a thing. What made things even more difficult is being raised in Colombia, so persumably we are rich people who can manage this at their own expense. Not.True!!!
Now we are blessed enough to be waiting for an appointment for surgery, likely within mid-December.
My heart goes out to all of you here... not being hewath workers but already knowing more than any of us. Hope God gives each and every one of you the best of health and well being.
