I was diagnosed with MVP and regurgitation about 11 years ago and my cardiologist has been monitoring it ever since with regular echos. My let atrium has enlarged significantly so that enlargement, along with my leak and symptoms, have prompted doctors to recommend surgery while I still have the opportunity for a repair. One doctor said that I want a restorative surgery, not a rescue surgery- so that's what I'm going for!
