About Me (In My Own Words)
Well I got diagnosed with an Unicuspid Aortic Valve when I was 15/16. I am 23 now and after a long hard uphill battle with the Canadian healthcare system, I finally took matters into my own hands. I reached out to the Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion and with the hope that I would find a Cardiologist who actually listened to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or a more compassionate team of providers. It turned out that I needed to have my aortic valve and ascending aorta replaced ASAP. So a month after my original appointment at the Clinic, I am sitting here two and a half weeks post op Ross Procedure!! I had been patiently waiting for this moment for a long time and with how terrible I was feeling towards the end, I couldn’t be happier right now!
I remember when I was first diagnosed, I had found Adam’s website and it being such a great tool to gain knowledge! After a while I had just become so defeated and felt like this diagnosis had taken over my life, that I didn’t want to be a part of anything. But with my new found help and getting where I needed to be, I find I love reading others stories because it reminds me that I am not alone and we are all in this together!
