Hi Wendy --
Great job and looks like you are well on your way !!! Thanks for the post :) I am 4 weeks post surgery (mitral valve repair) and thinking that I should be feeling better so it gives me great comfort to see you were in the same spot and in 8 weeks you are now working out so this gives me great hope that I will be at my pilates class before long !!!! If you don\'t mind me asking when did you start cardio rehab ????
Thanks
Darlene
This past week was my 5th week of cardiac rehab. Once you start it's amazing how much better you feel and how fast you progress. It's also nice to have people with similiar experiences as you and the rehab nurses are great at answering any questions you may have.
Nice going, Wendy and a Happy Birthday to you. How did you celebrate???

(I get it about doing this being single).
Hey, I\'m feeling a bit left out now......I still haven\'t seen my cardiologist. It took a long time to get the referral and then I have to wait another 2 weeks. That will be almost 2 months post op.
Continue with your hard work and recovery.

Hi Wendy,
You are a brave and strong woman, My heart goes out to you and I can tell you will get stronger each day. By the way do you know how to get a picture up, I am trying to put mine up but it never works and I do not see a websupport button on here. I am very new to this site..

Hi Wendy,
I missed the first part of your journal since I was having my surgery (aortic valve replacement). I\'m 3 weeks post-op.
The first 2 weeks went by really slow for me. Now, it\'s beginning to become a memory.
I didn\'t have any issues with coughing, but I\'m sure it hurts just as much as my sneezing attacks. Man, that really hurts!
Keep up the good work. I look forward to following your recovery now.

Hi Wendy,
I read your journal and see you had a mechanical value. I am trying to decide what type of valve for my surgery. One doctor says mechanical and one doctor sas tissue valve. Why did you choose mechanical? What kind of side affects are you having taking blood thinner?
Hope you continue to feel better each day.

wendy suchinski Hi Julie
It was a tough decision. My surgeon was pro tissue, but cardiologist was pro St. Judes mechanical. I am a medical tecnologist and work in a hospital laborotory and am very familiar with coumadin and PT/ INR's. The medical literature is 60/40 in favor of mechanical and more so under age 60. In the end the coumadin was less scary than having to have the same surgery again at 68. I did have to stay in the hospital a couple of extra days before my coumadin level was high enough, but so far everything is going good. As long as you follow a consistant diet and keep your INR in the target zone you'll be fine.
Hi Wendy. Yeah, I think coughing is part of the deal. In fact, it is supposed to help with the whole breathing thing.
