Hello Tom,
   My name is Michael Andreas. At age 60 ( now 67 ), I was diagnosed with an Ascending Aortic Aneurysm of 5.3 cm with a bicuspid Aortic valve ( no symptoms ). I was told to have surgery within the next 3 months before something bad might happen. A local surgeon just wanted to repair the Aneurysm and leave the valve for later. I asked for a second option from Dr. Patrick McCarthy at Northwestern. He replaced both on Nov 22 2017. My recommendation is to always get a second opinion from a surgeon who has done thousands of these procedures. Go into the surgery in the best physical condition you can. Get a fully adjustable bed and recliner for sleeping after surgery. Google and watch an actual surgery of an BAV & AAA together ( if you can ) It made sense ( to me ) to fix both and only get cut on once because they are next to each other. Good luck and God Bless!
