Hi Therese,

It's a giant step in the right direction. I survived two mitral valve repairs, one in 2010 and the second this past October. Right now I am more energetic than ever before, and there is no trace of the surgery with the exception of a fading scar. Recovery is different for everyone. I was back to work in 30 days. Janet Roberson I bought housedresses and shirts that button or snap up the front. Also, a bra that snaps in front. I'm so glad I did this because I'm not supposed to raise my arms after my mitral repair surgery.

I got the same diagnosis in September 22 and spent lots of time researching my condition and thinking about when to have surgery. I have even watched videos of the different procedures. Since I'm asymptomatic and healthy, I decided to get the surgery sooner rather than later so I have more energy and can enjoy life more fully. I'm having minimally invasive mitral valve repair surgery on April 25th. I have a lot of confidence in my surgeon who does many repair operations on a regular basis. And, on my surgical team and the hospital. This website - HeartValveSurgery.com has been a great resource. Good luck!
