Hi Roger, What valve type did you decide to go with? I am facing AVR surgery in the not too distant future and have similar concerns to those you posted. Best of luck with your surgery, hope all goes well. James

I still haven't and won't until we meet with surgeon tomorrow. Leaning pretty hard to tissue and hope medical improvements make it easier when the time comes again. What is your age? Good luck, certainly not a easy question to answer.

I am 40 and not too keen on Warfarin or the ticking that seems to be present on the mechanical valves. I am also hopeful that by the time I would potentially need another surgery the less invasive techniques would be established.

If it counts for anything...I'm a year post op and I went bovine after the same TAVR talk from my surgeon who said that would be his choice. He says I have room for 2 more. We're about the same age and activity level. I was unusually resistant to warfarin... Read more.

Thank you, I have the greatest wife in the world. But I do wonder about the closeness we are about to share. I hope I can be as patient as I should be. And a "good patient"!
