Robert, hope you and your 2 sled babies are weathering the storm and your valves are ticking.  I tried to send my other mgh alum a note but it never posted. If kath in wareham is listening, i hope to see you and husband this summer at the elks car show. Just turned 84 so get me before i turn into a vegetable. 

Sled dog races. Well robert, we went but i for one was very disappointed. I only saw one full fledged siberian husky besides shadow of course. Lots of mixes, a few hounds and other combinations. Mushing has obviously changed since we dabbled in it 25 years ago or more. The mushers look the same but the dogs are different. Shadow got to witness a bunch of out of control sled dogs going berserk while awaiting their turn to run. At one point he looked at me as much to say, i’m way too sophisticated for this, lets go home. So we did. 

Robert, i also forgot how insane siberian huskies can be. Shadow no exception. We had 20 years of malamutes since our last wild man. They are not as high strung. Sunday we are going to the annual new england husky clubs sled dog races at the freetown state forest in southern mass. Observer only. My mushing days are long over. Oh, the stories i could tell when we had a pair of little devils like you. How about falling off one time and getting dragged 100 feet. My face looked like hamburg. We missed a few years as cassie was very dog aggressive and who needs a dog fight but here we go again. Shadow will no doubt garner a bunch of attention as black long coated siberians are on the rare side. I will let you know how it goes. The last time i went there were 300 dogs in attendance. The noise is deafening as they await their turn to race. In case you were wondering running a pair of siberian huskies on a sled down a forest trail is as fast as i want to ever go while exposed to the elements. If you ever heard the term nantucket sleigh ride, that pretty much tells the story. I live in a former whaling city so that term is worth googling. Stay tuned. Mentor.
