Thanks so much for sharing your experience with Dr W. He studied under my first surgeon in PA at Upenn it turned out so he knew him well. Unfortunately, I had really hard time with his bedside manner or lack thereof. And I get that it comes with that territory with surgeons sometimes. But I have an issue in my brain that is going to put me at higher risk of death during an OHS. He said bluntly "if that thing bleeds, you're dead!" That was just one of multiple comments that were difficult to receive due to the way they were said. I'm in a bad situation with all of the risk factors and I know I have to go to the best surgeon I possibly can, but I also would like some comfort to know they will do everything they can to mitigate my risks, which was never said to me. I have another consult tomorrow and hopefully Cleveland Clinic will get back to me also soon. I just will feel better if I have some options and talk to a few others.I know I don't have a lot of time to do that though so I hope I get answers this week. I'm so glad you are doing well and that you wrote to me!
I'm sorry he was so cold and rude to you. It is uncalled for, especially in his field. We are stressed enough having to deal with OHS and all the unknown to begin with. He could have been more sympathetic to your situation. I didn't have that experience with him, even though he wasn't a warm and fuzzy guy. He was all business which was fine with me at the time since I needed a high volume surgeon and I couldn't wait for an opening at Cleveland Clinic. I do know he is an excellent surgeon. I pray CC gets back to you soon because they are known to be the best in the country. With that being said, there are a lot of excellent surgeons out there.
I am broken hearted for you that you are going through this for the third time. I will be praying for you & your husband as you go through this journey. Please keep in touch.
