Hello sister Olga,
How are you doing with the stasiurs? Am happy that you got to visit the residents. I bet everyone was thrilled to see you, Daniel and your mum. I am in week five as of Monday of my cardiac rehab. Its going well. It was so nice of Daniel to keep us all informed of your progress.
Hope you are not over doing it. My body tells me when I do. While you were recuperating my son gave his girlfriend an engagement ring. We are so excited. The wedding is June 7th. We are going to look for dresses tomorrow.
Write when you can. We can talk soon.
Love, Mia

Hi Olga. Just a quick note to let you know that I am thinking of you. I'll bet you are so happy to be home. Daniel did an excellent job keeping us all updated regularly so we knew every step of the way how you were doing. I am so grateful for that. Thank you Daniel. Olga, can you believe it? With all of the postponed surgeries and the worries about the surgery, that's all behind you. Now you just have to recover and heal and your beautiful heart will beat happy beats for you again. Congratulations!! Much love to you. ~Karen

Dear Daniel and Olga.
So glad that you two are home. Also surprised you are able to hold her while in bed and hope that She is comfortable doing so as having had the full sternotomy myself the thought of being held in bed this soon after surgery makes me want to cry "Ouch" or "Oh My God"1. I know you see a beautiful Woman in your wonderful wife and have told us many times of her incredible Strength Daniel but I am hoping that now that you are home She will be careful to take great care with that sternum of hers and especially give her the next two weeks( not to expect to much) as Time is important in the healing process and as much as She loves you this surgery is one of the most difficult operations her body will have had to endure. Her body is going to be very sore these next weeks and that sternum needs some quiet time and time for her to be comfortable enough to be up and walking as well as getting rest when She needs it. I am not trying to lecture you Daniel but Gary is 6ft. 4" and loves me like you love your Olga. Loves me enough to be aware that even him turning over in bed on his side was enough to make my position alter in bed to make my pain increase with the shift in weight on the mattress. It is difficult once you leave the hospital to want to celebrate and get home to the "Norm" and just feel the relief of it being behind the both of you but it is crucial to her healing to be patient and give her time to gather her strength again and day by day, step by step so that you guys can move forward with your lives. So here is to a smooth and gentle healing process so that in just a short time you both enter into the Holiday season feeling your best. I can imagine the two of you are feeling Blessed and happy that with her healthier heart you have many more wonderful lives together. By the way Daniel, your posts and updates have been wonderful sharing with all of us who love Olga too updates that let us know how She was instead of having to wait in the wings and wonder! Thank you for having the heart and taking the time to do all of it! Both of you take care and we will be looking to read how you and the Family are doing as Olga begins her "HOME" recovery!

Daniel: I love reading the updates on Olga and am so glad that she is making such wonderful progress! Elder Lundquist wrote to me today to let me know that he was able to stop by last week for a short visit. He was so happy to see both of you! and to see that Olga is doing so well, even though she could only whisper to him last week because of the tubes! Olga, I can tell that you are strong and strong-willed! Hope you both are on the mend and can come see us in March!

Hello everyone, I'm sorry this is so late. Olga is still climbing the proverbial ladder of recovery. When we went in this afternoon, Olga was doing well. They had her on a feed bag which later turned out to be detrimental. I guess her body wasn't ready for food yet. Olga's Mum Jane and I came home for Supper at 7:00 when the shift changes occur. When we went back at 10:00, oh my gosh what a sight. The male nurse assigned to her for the night was just outside the room and we could see Olga was in a lot of distress and pain.
Bells and whistles where going off all over. The nurse finally came in and started dealing with the issues but he was very cold to us. At one point, Olga gestured for us to get him away from her. Jane noticed that Olga needed suctioning at the mouth. The nurse finally got a suction tube and drained her mouth-there was a lot!
The nurse asked us to leave for a few minutes so they could change Olga's robe and sheets. After this was done he actually came and got us from the waiting room(not usually done) and there was an amazing change in his tone. He was calm and spoke respectfully for the first time since we saw him. He told us that the food that Olga had been given was not being digested and had caused Olga to be Nauseous and required draining. When we got back into the room, the container was nearly full of the fluid. It's no wonder Olga was in such pain with no way of regurgitating and the bloating she must have felt.
We also noticed that Olga's head was elevated to a sitting position and her legs slightly raised at the knees. Olga has scoliosis and her back gets very sore lying down flat on her back so this new position was like Heaven to her. She looked MUCH improved by the time she LET us come home to sleep. We saw the surgeon at 7:00 just before we left the first time and he told us that Olga's BP and numbers were very good and that the breathing tube might be able to come out in the morning, when we talked to the nurse, he said itight not be until the afternoon. We will be praying for Morning as the tubes are really bothering Olga's throat.
Olga tries to communicate with sign language but I'm not very good at reading the signs and she gets frustrated with me. I decided to have her write with her finger on my hand. This worked a little better, though she still writes too fast for my brain to process sometimes-I guess that she is just trying to deal with the pain quickly.
That's all for tonight. It's 1:45 in the AM and we all know what Robin Williams' character in "Good Morning Vietnam" thought about the "O" in O'clock- "O my god it's early".
I hope you all have a speedy and full recovery! Those of you who have yet to go under the knife, be of good courage and know that He is God who created you and knows the trials that we all must go through in this life. He knows you and loves you enough to allow you to have these trials to learn and to grow. Without pain we would not appreciate the rest of the good times we have so accept it, appreciate it, learn from it, but don't let it cripple your progression!
He loves you, Olga loves you, and so do I. Thank you all for your love, prayers, and support during this trial of Olga's.
