hopefully, you’ll see this-i’m mom to 26 yr old getting mechanical valve 12/9 at Cleveland clinic. would love to know your exp. w warfarin. i’m freaking out about it!

Hi Lyle and parents! I was 26 when I received my first OHS. I’d been monitored since 15. I had my son at 25 and went into severe heart failure during early delivery. After my brush with death, they decided it was time ( my valves were stiffening and post pregnancy was pretty dreadful ). Things have worked wonderfully up until now; one valve needs to be redone. I agree with seeing the best and possibly traveling for care. He’s just into adulthood. Check in with nemours for pediatric advise? So many options are available now. There’s a video w Dr Desai from Penn on here. He talks about how each new procedure is done with the idea of a possible future procedure in mind. This can help dictate what is done first. It’s worth looking into for your sons age! Keep me posted if you can!
