Hi Julie, I had robotic mitral valve repair, but BMI is not the only factor. I passed all pre requisites, but one: the possible size of my femoral artery. Mine, the radiologist thought was 6 mm, and you need 7mm. I did not know ahead of time what they’d do during surgery. I’d try to get my weight down as much as possible before your second opinion. Always good :).

Hello Julie,
Did you ever get that 2nd opinion? I have a BMI of 31 and was told I can have minimally invasive for my tricuspid when I need it. Dr. Malaisrie here in Illinois at Northwestern University. You are strong and you will do GREAT!!!
Lots of Love and Virtual Hugs sent,
Kim

Hi Julie, hope you will get a second or third or more opinions, so you can be sure you choose the right surgeon. Sometimes doctors are less than delicate when they think their patient is overweight. Be well and God bless you
