Hi John , I have a St.Jude's mitral valve . My range is 2.5 to 3.5 . My target is 3.0
I find that there is a difference of 0.7 between the results from a finger prick blood test and the results if blood is sent to the path lab . I double checked this through reading research and checking back on my own results .
To reach my target , to keep in my range prior to a finger prick blood test , I take a slightly lower dose the day before and omit the next dose of warfarin until after my blood has been checked . I personally think that it ‘s a bit of a mad system but it there to keep us safe . I have my blood checked about every 6 weeks if I have played the system well . Three monthly if I have beaten the system. To me it feels like a funny game really . Really when we hit out target we should get a prize or a certificate , at the least !!! I hit the target last time I went and there was no prize or anything , not even a sticker !!! You are doing great . You will soon adjust to the new range and will be absolutely fine again .
With me , I have found that the venous blood result ( sent to path lab ) is always 0.7 less than the finger prick test .
