-I admire you for your strength and perseverance and I am so happy that you are now on the road to total recovery! Just put one foot in front of the other and take it one day at a time. Soon, you will look back and it will seem like a dream. And, thank you for everything you have done for all your patients.

Joan, you are such a warrior. I am in awe of your strength and the power of your body. I know you are tired, but yet you continue to fight. You give me so much inspiration. I have had a mitral valve replacement and my tricuspid valve was repaired, but will need additional work. I tried to block it out, but it might be a replacement. If and when that happens, I will remember that immense amount if strength. I know that it is not all puppies, unicorns, and rainbows, but I know on those down difficult days you still are facing them with grace. That is what gives me hope. Get well soon, feel better, and keep fighting. THANK YOU!!

Hi, I'll be interested in following your story because I too had rheumatic fever but I was 10 at the time. I had my aortic valve replaced at age 43 and next week will talk to the surgeon about options for my mitral valve. I'm almost 70 now but have excellent exercise tolerance. The symptoms like you're having just popped up about 6 months ago. My first surgery totally changed my life for the better.Hopefully you'll be back to doing all your regular activities soon! Good luck!
