Hi Jeffrey,
Thinking of ya! I know what it feels like the day before. You will soon be in recovery. Ask for WHATEVER you want in the ICU. You have a full time nurse assigned to you; you are in good hands. Godspeed!

Hello Jeffrey
i wish there was a better way to make a direct private message here.
There is so much misinformation about these surgeries.
Many organizations only offer TAVR, and in my case, i was too calcified when the did my last test, a 3D CT that shows the details.
I was given 1 option open-heart surgery, and this was Rush University.
Doing homework and research i found Dr Balkhy at the University of Chicago, who is a key pioneer doing Aortic Valve replacement with Da Vinci Robot.
He chose not to do that with me, rather he did MIAVR, Minimal Invasive Aortic Valve Replacement, and clean up other things needing attention. It is a 3 inch cut in the ribs, spreading the ribs and replacing the Valve.
You can also see this on youtube and google "Miami Method" where the University of Miami has trained over 1000 surgeons in doing MIAVR.
I read a lot of people getting TAVR, and Open Heart surgeries and they pass right over MIAVR or Robotic operations.
I get the impression the MIAVR was better in my case as they had obstructions and calcification to clean up in my case.
I would love to tell you more or urge you to look at the University of Chicago or University Miami to get second opinions.
I believe there needs to be more guidelines as to which procedure is best, and guidelines for each.
Best Wishes
Gratefully
LS
