About Me

This 65-year-old gentleman presents with symptomatic severe aortic valve stenosis. He is undergoing elective port access aortic valve replacement. He also has a moderate lesion in the left anterior descending for which he will undergo a hybrid PCI post-operatively. The initial transesophageal echo confirmed severe aortic stenosis with preserved left ventricular function and very thick left ventricle. The procedure was completed using a port access approach with a 5 cm right anterior mini-thoracotomy and right femoral-femoral cardiopulmonary bypass. The ascending aorta was of good quality. The valve was tri-leaflet and heavily calcified. A calcific ridge along the mitral curtain was debrided. A size large Percival sutureless bioprosthesis was placed without difficulty. The patient came off the pump readily on no inotropic support. The post-procedure transesophageal echo revealed a well-seated valve with no perivalvular leak. The patient was transferred to the ICU in stable condition https://www.uchicagomedicine.org/find-a-physician/physician/husam-h-balkhy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuSXPbDwDZI We All Deserve These Surgeries and need to demand Hospitals and Doctors Upgrade from these Old Fashion and Very Traumatic Surgeries. We deserve to have these, as you recover so much faster, lower mortality, less chance of infections and reduces mortality. Pease note, One Procedure is Robotic The other is Minimal Invasive Port Access Valve Replacement or if you google MIAVR, you can find much information. . One Requires a Robot, and the other requires the Surgeon to get trained and updates the procedure to meet a more humane and modern procedure. Rush University Hospital only made available to me the TAVR, where I did not qualify because of the Severe Aortic Stenosis. They do not offer these MIAVR or non Invasive Procedures At Rush University Hospital. They only offer Open Heart Surgery. This is unethical and immoral, and the case of most of the hospitals doing Open Heart Surgery. THIS NEED TO END... 2.
