I plan on retiring at the end of this calendar year
from the County. I do miss my relationship with pts and coworkers at the women\'s health center and do not feel finished there.

I saw your journal entry and had to sign your guestbook. I had mitral valve prolapse with severe regurg too. I had a repair done in 1996. Unfortunately, I developed a leak around the repair and had to repeat the surgery in 1999. But everything is still going great 16 years later. It is pretty amazing how your energy level shoots up. Your energy level is amazing...I am inspired and hope that at my one year I feel as good as you do! I know that I was lagging behind my husband when we walked and hope that I am operating at the same level or more after the healing time. That is such great news!! You are definitley back to your old self again. Chris and I were talking about how you look 10 years younger now- even just a couple of weeks after surgery it was obvious. It must be such a relief to be able to do all the things you love again--I know Gus is really happy that his \"maga\" Donna can hold him again! I thank God every day for Dr. Vial and modern medicine.

Donna, my surgery is scheduled for Aug 18 (that was kind of my doing) they could have done it sooner - the first week of July, but I have 10 grandchildren and we are planning our semi annual trip to Disneyland July 21 and I don\'t want to disappoint them. I asked the doctor is it would put me more at risk, he said no - they determine that by looking at the distolic (which is high normal)ejection factor - normal 55% and pulmonary hypertension - mild hypertension 48 mmgh (the pulmonary hypertension is what sent me to CCF - local doctors said I Had reflux and gave me a pill - (hello, even google will tell you that is high) - so hope I am making the right decision by waiting. GOD Bless

I too am going to have the same surgery you had so it is so nice to read your encouraging comments. If you don\'t mind, what is your age and where did you have the surgery, what hospital and dr. You may be receiving a double response. I wrote to you, but then received an "error" message.
I'm 66, and also in good health, otherwise. My surgery was done about an hour from where I live, at Sequoia Hospital, in Redwood City, CA. It is nationally known for it's awards for excellence in cardiac surgery. My surgery was performed by Dr Vial, a wonderful, and talented surgeon.
