Dan. Glad to read you are doing well. Hitting the gym sounds good. I regulate my weight by using the bathroom scale every few days and modifying how much I eat and how much I exercise. Seems to work with only minor corrections needed once I'm in the zone. Here's to year 2 even better than year 1. -- DVB
I'm glad to hear how we'll you are doing. I must say I was glad well not glad but needed to hear someone else has a problem with this weight after surgery lol. I to am trying to get back in the gym I gotta do something. If you come across a miracle drug for this weight let me know lol in the meantime guess ill exercise. Stay well
Congratulations on being out of rehab and back to work. I'm going for my rehab eval on Thursday. I was postponed by doctors dur to slings issue with pnemounia. I'm hoping to go back to work on the 14th and know that rehab combined with work may be stressful but I was wondering what type of issues you faced so that I can sort of know what to expect? If u dont mind sharing.
Am curious and may need to ck with many others. I heard that depression was a side effect of this surgery ( or any heart surgery). I have never been depressed & don't wanna be. Did u get any of these side effects ? Thx for your help? Will ask a few of my gal,pal valve friends tool. Nancyf st Louis. Avr 2-9.
I'm so glad you are doing so well. I also graduated from my rehab this past week. I was really excited about that. I can't believe it has been 3 months, it crazy isn't it...anyway, take care of yourself and keep up the good work!
Congratulations on getting the ok to go back to work. I'm really anxious to get back to my normal routine as well. I started re-hab this week and it has been great! Keep up the good work and don't over do it! Your in my thoughts!
I went back to work at about the six week point. I was getting restless being around the house and daytime TV is terrible!
I found that work was much more "work" than being home, more than I expected. Some options could be to go back to work half days or being able to rest quietly for twenty minutes over lunch, whatever might give you a break when you need it.
I know exactly how you feel. It's seems like somedays I feel really good and then somedays I feel so tired and rundown, hopefully it is just the process that comes with healing...I hope your not coming down with something...good luck at your appointments..
I had valve surgery Oct.20th, and I haven't been able to sleep more than 2 to4 hours a night either. I wasn't a good sleeper before the surgery, but now it seems worse. Let me know if you find a solution!
Thanks for signing my guest book and thinking of me. I'm so glad to read that your surgery went well. I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve and had it replaced last year. I have had a few complications with my surgery. Hope that we all are on our way to recovering now. Good Luck & God Bless
Happy Holidays to you and your family
I'm so glad you are doing well...your post opt journal was the last thing I read last Tuesday night before I went into my surgery...I was so glad that I read an update that you were doing well before I went in...you have been in my thoughts and will continue to be..
Best of luck! :) I wish you well to a speedy recovery. Take the books advice and dont forget to use that breathing tube..(cannot think for the life of me what its called-you have to blow in it and push the lever up, it expands your lungs) It helped me a ton though-I was able to get out of the hospital in 3 days :D
Dan (and family) are in my prayers. Once he gets out of icu you'll be suprised how much he progresses each day. Dan, don't let any home health nurses touch your incisions without wearing gloves. (been there and am learning that lesson the hard way) LOL.
Hoping that all goes well with your surgery on Monday. You seem to be well-prepared. I'll be having mine soon. Thinking of you and your snowblower. Glad we don't need them down here. LOL

Thank you for reading my story! It helps me so much to read your's and all the other heart patients story's out there, it's nice to know that there are others who are going through the same thing! Good luck on the surgery on Monday. You and I will be recovering about the same time..I look forward to reading about your progress. Thanks again and be well!
Dan good luck.on Tuesday ! It appears one of these days I'll be needing an avr as well. Reading all the journals have helped I too would like to wait but now am thinking of doing it before really really needed - sort of handing the objection before it happens. Will be following your journal wednesday & Thursday to see how you are doing. Best to you. Nancy
