Hello Chris, why did you choose the Mechanical valve instead of a bio-prosthetic? I guess your younger age at the time of surgery was a big factor. They will replace my Aortic Valve with a Bio-Prosthetic (bovine) one on April 8th.

chris, you are the youngest patient i found here w mechanical valve. my 26 yr old son is due to get same on 12/9. i am freaking out about warfarin. how do you handle warfarin? do you hear clicking?

Hey Susan, I do tick, it was a little weird at the beginning but now I barely notice it. My wife will fall asleep on my chest and it doesn't bother her. As far as the warfarin goes, it took a month or so to get my dose figured out... Read more.

I have yes, it's not urgent. Unless you missed more than 1. But it becomes part of your routine. You can adjust to make up for it and you have a range to stay into. I have a testing device so I can test my blood at home so I... Read more.
