Hi Annie, Your entry caught my eye as I was looking for someone with a similar situation as me and we seem to have a lot in common. I am 43 and was diagnosed about a year ago with a Bicuspid valve and stenosis. I have 7 and 12 year old boys and we are very active in soccer and other sports. My valve measures at about .9-1 and I was wondering what your measurements are? I see it has been 8 years for you and I am really wondering how long it might be for me before I start to hear it is time for surgery. I know everyone is different, but I also had a murmur found at age 19 and at age 41 found out. I am from Minnesota (Plymouth-osseo) and know Edina well. It's hard to not be able to play like I want with my boys, but surgery definitely scares me. What has it been like for you over the last 8 years? Was it on your mind a lot? I hope you are well and finding the answers you need. Take care, Karin Georgeson.

Hi Annie, welcome! We were watching two valves decline when I went for a second opinion and discovered I too have an ascending aortic aneurism and had to hurry and set a date for surgery. Mine is this Thursday, May 15. I'd be lost without this site to refer for information and support. Good luck with your surgery when it comes around. Happy healing!

Hi Annie! I'm glad you found Adam's website. This is not only an excellent source of information you need, but the place to come to realize you aren't alone. Reading through the journals is very helpful.
Good luck with your second opinion. That's a good thing to do.
I also have (BAV) that is still being watched. I have my annual checkup this week.
Keep us posted!
