I had posted quite awhile ago as I faced heart valve replacement and then could not get on again. Could me old age (75) just kidding. I went through the surgery like it was nothing, ended up with a cow so now I moo and drink chocolate milk. Just kidding!! Surgery on Monday would have gone home on wed. but had afib so shock Wed. and then came home. I was so amazed at how much pain I did not feel. Heart surgeon told me he is good at what he does and his job is comfort and fixing. Also said did not know what kind of a valve--
wanted to know what kind of a doctor he would be if he guessed--said he was good with a needle so would do what was best for me.
Long story short was that everything went great until I went into afib again. Have had a couple of heart shocks but don't like them. Now I have been shaky, moody, grumpy, so think med may be messing me up. Bp and pulse stay right on where need to be. I really think med is the problem since I had never been sick until this 2 1/2 years ago when this reared its ugly head and I have had to change some meds. Quit working so hopefully that will help. Heart tests show all is great so will see what helps. Now I am on amirodorine and metotprile plus rat posion and lasix as needed. Diltiazam made me cough so quit it---guess meds and me don"t mix too well. Please share with me what has worked for you. Be safe!!

Don Netz I had mitral valve repair (12/15) and was cruising through recovery when I developed a fib and had to stay a couple of extra days. I was given amiodarone (a fib) and Warfarin (your rat poison to prevent clots). My BP medicine was changed from Ramipril (I was coughing) to amlodipine. I am doing well at three weeks post-op. I hope to be off of warfarin and a fib med is a month or so. Best wishes.

Having complications with medication. Was never on medications other than a once in awhile Tylenol so my body does not like the medicines. My heart persists in getting out of rythmn so now on Murtag which doctor says is a cousin to amerodorone which I could not tolerate---burning skin---dizzy so am anxious to see how this new one will do. Still on diltiazem and rat posion (cumidin) as my levels when INR done goes from too thick to too thin very easily. Very anxious to get this settled down so I do not feel anxious and can go on with my life.
