About Me (In My Own Words)
This is my story. Growing up I had a very active childhood. I did whatever I wanted without any limitations. At the time I never new I had congenital heart disease until much, much later in life. Not having this knowledge allowed me to have a very active childhood. I Was very much a tomboy - played sports, climbed trees, went ice fishing with my dad, played on the girls soccer team in highschool, track and field in junior highschool. Basically anything that I wanted to do, I did.
About 15 years ago, I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse with severe mitral regurgitation during a routine physical. 3 pregnancies later, a TEE, and a cardiac angiogram it is time for my valve to be repaired. During my TEE it was discovered that I also have a small ASD!
I am currently on the wait list for OHS and getting all the preliminary work done for my Pre-admission Clinic appt on September 24.
