Diagnosed with a murmur many years ago. Stress Echo in Dec 2008 showed a moderate to significant leakage although no symptoms were present. First doctor recommended replacement. Second opinion sought. The second doctor concurred, but offered a repair as an option rather than a replacement. Without symptoms it was difficult to finally decide to have the surgery. My husband and I ride bicycles for fun and I didn't want to miss any of the "season"... met the surgeon in Nov of 2009 and he explained the procedure and my "window of opportunity". Had the surgery two weeks ago today. Recovery--so far so good. I'll let you know how it goes.
