I am a 57 yo male that has had shortness of breath (thought I was just out of shape) and started having chest pains in late December of 2010. had a colonoscopy which was clear and family physician scheduled a stress test....did echocardiogram and doctor would not continue with stress test. My nurse read the cardiologist report to me on phone and it read moderately severe aortic stenosis...My first cardiologist appointment is February 4 with Dr. David Starr of Carilion Cardiologist in Roanoke, Virginia....If I have to have surgery I want the best doctor in the southeast or mid-Atlantic...so far only can find east carolina and their web page doesn't mention aortic valve work just mitral valve...my local hospital got a poor rating on cardiac valve surgery so I'm lost at this point.....
