Hi Cynthia,
I agree that no one really understands what it feels like to have arrhythmias unless they have them. Sleep is not easy, and you become aware of every heart beat. Can I ask what doctor you are seeing at CCF for the arrhythmia?
Godspeed and GOOD LUCK!

Hi Cynthia,
I had surgery almost three years at CCF, and I still have a lot of arrhythmias. I am taking a beta blocker, which really helped a lot for well over a year, but now they are back.....worse at night. I don't get full blown Afib, but I do get Afib runs and lots of PVC's and skipped beats. I will be getting another monitor next week to rule out anything dangerous. Keep us posted on how your treatment goes. I would love to figure out how to get rid of these!
Be blessed,

Cynthia Jenkins Hi Deb...we must be twins, as our symptoms are so closely matched. I have been plagued by PVCs, tachycardia, palpitations, and Aflutter most of my adult life. I thought that these would subside after my surgery....or so I was told by my cardiologist at CC. They told me that Afib is very common for up to 6 months post open heart surgery. The heart has to have plenty of time to heal. I have been on Metoprolol, Cardizem, and Amiodarone. I discontinued the Amiodarone 1.5 months ago so that I could wear a heart monitor. I can tell that I'm having a lot more arrythmias now. It is difficult to remain positive . I have suffered with this inconspicuous congenital heart defect since birth....no doctor ever picked up on it until 2012 when I went in for a catheterization. A leaky aortic valve and sinus of valsalva aneurysm eventually required surgical repair.
Have you considered an ablation? Most are highly successful. I look forward to our conversations. Only someone who has experienced the same issues truly understands.
Take care, Deb. Wishing you the best. By the way...what type of heart surgery did you have?
