Deena Elani Trina- It is not your imagination that you are not being heard and need to be, nor that you are having pain. I would seriously consider going to a different cardiologist and/or hospital. Identify a a Dr. with an outstanding reputation. Are you far from a large city? Richard’s thoughts are so right on. We can help you along the way.

Thomas Brusstar There are sternal fixation devices, essentially a 2-part set of titanium braces, one screwed to each side of the sternum and then those two lock together. It would be a real surgery under general anesthesia to re-fix the sternum, but it sounds like you need it. Then you would have a very solid lock holding the sternum in place.

Susan Lynn Trina - My heart is breaking reading your post. As others have advised, you need to demand the care you deserve. Please don't settle for these responses from your physicians - if you're in pain, something is wrong and needs to be immediately addressed. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Susan Lynn Richard - I became much more demanding about medical care when I had to interact with my parents' physicians toward the end of their lives. They grew up at a time when you didn't question the doctor. I remember asking my father's doctor if he could have a less invasive form of treatment for his condition and the doctor said to me, 'You watch too much television.' Out of respect for my father, I didn't reply back in the way I would have liked, but I did inform him in the parking lot that we would never be returning to that practice. By the way, my father lived several more years after the appointment and never required the surgery recommended by that doctor.
My area of expertise isn't medicine, but I have never insulted anyone for asking questions at my job.
Keep on encouraging people on this site, Richard. I'm happy to be here to help people through one of the scariest experiences they'll face in their lifetimes. Sadly, not all of them can depend on their physicians, just like my father couldn't depend on his. 😪💔
