Susan Lynn Tracy- Pajama pants or shorts (those hospital gowns are drafty!) Long chords for cell phone charging Disposable toothbrushes or the regular kind Dry shampoo Noise canceling headphones or ear buds (hospitals can be noisy places) Loose pants and button front shirts - Many of us left the hospital with some temporary water weight. Also, arm movement is a little difficult after surgery, so stay away from pullovers for awhile. )
Pretty much everything you need will be provided for you.
Best of luck to you both!

Grace Mason Hi Tracy, Not sure of your travel plans after discharge, but if you are staying at a hotel post surgery for a few days as required for air travel a portable BP machine is good idea. I had to check my BP and weight after discharge while I waited for clearance to fly home. The hotel gym had a scale I was able to use If you are traveling by car I recommend extra pillows for support under arms and just to help cushion any bumps in the car. Definitely loose clothes as Susan suggested. I also took slip on sneakers, compression socks and button up tops for post surgery. Bending forward can feel uncomfortable or weird for a bit after surgery, so slip on shoes eliminated that and they were more comfortable than the hospital socks they provide(and keeps bedding cleaner than walking in socks and getting back in bed). ChapStick is also nice to have. Hospital does provide for many basic items.
